Leadership Training Professionals Motivation Minute Coaching Tip of the Week!

Todays’ topic is what many may think is the opposite of motivation which is… Quitting!

I’m here to propose it’s not necessarily a bad thing, contrary to conventional wisdom.

What a leader needs to realize is everyone quits something or at some time in their lives, and sometimes for good reasons as well as just giving up. The important thing then is to do what moves you forward in your life, whether professional or personal.

The important key piece to consider is what you do with the quitting experience:

Did you learn from it?

Did it make you more resolved?

The bottom line is will you make it a learning experience to move forward, or will it hinder or seduce you into wanting to make it a way of life instead? Which of these you choose to do with the quit experience is the key.

So, I’m saying its ok to embrace your quit experience and keep that “I just quit” feeling it in your mind and how it make you feel to use for the next time you feel like quitting, and then use it as your personal motivation to keep pushing forward.

So bottom line for todays’ coaching - Don’t deny or be worried about quitting, but know it doesn’t have to break you or slow you – learn and move forward!
